One of the most respected trumpet players, a conductor, composer and professor at the Graz Jazz Academy, Austria, Stjepko Gut was also a member of an impressive list of jazz bands and has performed with Lionel Hampton All Star Band.

Curtis Fuller, Mel Lewis, Joe Newman, Clifford Jordan, Frankie Dunlop, Horace Parlan, Ernie Willkins, Frank Wess, Alvin Queen, and Dusko Gojkovic are just a few names of jazz legends he performed with.

He has participated in numerous jazz festivals all over the world and performed in many major European jazz clubs.

His performances and recordings also include jazz legends such as Vince Benedetti, Sal Nistico, Clark Terry, Wild Bill Davis,Charlie Antolini, Horace Parlan, Mel Lewis, Kenny Washington,Johnny Griffin, Jimmy Heath, James Moody and many more.

Worldwide jazz festivals which had the pleasure of his presence were Bern 1980, North Sea 1982, Ronstberg 1981, Ivrea 1985, Havana 1987, Montreux 1988, Nanco 1990, Vienna 1993 and the slit goes on...

The founder of the future Jazz Centre in Belgrade and currently a member of the faculty at the Graz Institute for Jazz (since 1984), Stjepko Gut studied trumpet at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. As a conductor, he has won the first place in the first Austrian Big Band competition. He is one of the most famous jazz brass players from Serbia, others being Duško Gojkovic and Miloje Markovic.
