Mirko Ilic - The Art of Graphics

Mirko Ilic was born in Bijeljina, Bosnia in 1956 and moved early on to Zagreb, Croatia where he finished
the Art School and published his first illustration in 1972.

After fulfilling his dream of being published in every major European comic book magazine he leaves the comic book drawing and moves to New York, where he cooperates with numerous influential US magazines:
Time, The New York Times, The New York Times Book Review, Washington Post, Money … 
In 1991, Mirko became Art Director at Times Magazine, in charge of the international edition. 1992, Art Director of the New York Times Op-Ed Pages, 1993, partnered in Oko & Mano, 1994, served as Vice President of the AIGA New York Chapter, and in 1995, Ilic has received medals from the Society of Illustrators, Society of Publication Designers, Art Directors Club, ID Magazine, Society of Newspaper Design, and others.

Mirko Ilic established his graphic design and 3D computer graphics and motion picture title studio in 1995.

He teaches at the School of Visual Arts in NY and has recently co-authored "The Design of Dissent" with Milton Glaser, a book that showcases compelling political design from around the world. Some of the pieces will be on display in the Graphic Design Gallery in New York.

Milton Glaser has said about Mirko Ilic: "He is a designer that draws and an illustrator that thinks. Whether he deals with socio or geo politics, scandals related to financial, governmental or medical issues, Ilic manages to throw the concept right at the readers face, somewhat brutally, however never losing a sense of humor and always with the utmost relevance and intelligence of the subject."
