Tonala, Jalisco Pottery Tour is the first in the series of Professor Chuck Plosky's Art of Ceramics tours that will take your all over Mexico. There is more than 50 different types of clay in this amazing country. Discover the examples of the diversity and the uniqueness of the Mexican clay, the one hundred and eighty degrees
different experience and vision of the beautiful forms of artistic expression.

Mexico, the land where the imagination runs wild in it's art academies, museums and galleries, where one
can appreciate the products of a creative tradition dating back to the pre-Hispanic era. A very different and special Mexico awaits you as Professor Plosky takes you to the studios of the local artists and you finally
have a chance to experience this cultural heritage, hands on.

Archaic Pottery Technique Study Tour, Serbia

with a stop in Szentendre, Hungary and Novi Sad, Vojvodina
Day 1:
Arrive to Budapest in the morning, then a short trip to Szentendre, one of the oldest towns and a former cultural and financial capitol of Hungary where we will refresh, have a meal and continue that same afternoon to Novi Sad and overnight there.

Day 2:
The Petrovaradin Fortress built by Austrian Empress Maria Theresia is the home to many artists and the famous ceramist Ana Popov.
Lunch in traditional "Sokace" restaurant and continue to our final destination to arrive Zlakusa village in the evening where our hostess Mira, winner of the last three cooking contests in ceramic pots will greet us with a hearty dinner.

Day 3-6:
Your pottery classes begin in the morning. Learn the most archaic pottery technique known in Europe today.
Your package also includes up to 100 pounds of moist clay per tuition day!

Day 7-8:
While the artwork is drying, we will visit several nearby sights such as The Potpecka Cave, Village Drven-Grad built by the Oscar winning film director Emir Kusturica. This unique ethno village consists of wooden buildings, such as cottages of Old-Vlach type and the Museum of Village Life.
All transportation and visitor passes are also included.

Day 9:
The artwork is fired in a wood burning outdoor kiln.

Day 10:
We will help you pack all the artwork and head to the airport for our morning flight back to the US.

Airfare from New York (departures from other cities available on request)
Airport and all other transfers including the side trips
Accommodations in rooms with two double beds
Six days of Pottery Classes conducted by artist Mina Diklich
Up to 100 pounds of clay per day of class.
Firing of all completed works.
(We also offer assistance with artwork shipping to the US)

All entrance tickets on all side trips
Two hearty meals per day (please advise us in advance of your special meal requirements such as vegetarian, lactose free, etc.)
